A 1/72 scale premium diecast model of a Shenyang J-11BG - Multi-role Fighter 63109, PLAAF, 2022.
This premium model features:
In 2002, China began creating an advanced version of the J-11A. They stopped making J-11A in 2004 after 100 planes were built. The J-11A used old Russian technology that wasn't suitable for China's goal of making the J-11 a multirole aircraft. The J-11B would have better radar, a modern cockpit, new engines, and could carry new weapons. The Shenyang Aircraft Corporation planned to deliver the J-11B in 2007, but issues with the new Chinese-made WS-10A engines delayed delivery until 2009.
The J-11B, a highly improved version of the Su-27, entered service in 2000. It had more composite materials, modern electronics, an upgraded fire control system, and new turbofan-10B engines. Most J-11B nose cones are black, but the new J-11BG has a grayish-white cone. It is believed that there is a new active phased array radar that can detect targets at a greater range and angle. The J-11BG can carry Thunderbolt 10 and 15 missiles, as well as PL-15 long-range air-to-air missiles.
